James M. Ray, M.D., FACS is the President/C.E.O. and medical director of NTC Health and is a Board Certified Orthopedic Surgeon and Fellow in the American College of Surgeons. After graduating from Loyola University in New Orleans and L.S.U. Medical School, he completed an orthopedic residency in Orlando, Florida. He continued his training by completing a Sports Medicine fellowship in Madison, Wisconsin. After his residency and fellowship, he joined the faculty at the University of Kentucky and became the team physician for the University of Kentucky basketball team from 1986-1992. While at Kentucky, he served as the team physician for three NCAA national championship teams; the U.S. Olympic Ski Jumping Team in Oslo and Lillehamer, Norway; the swimming and diving teams for the Pan American Games in Winnipeg, Canada; and served as Chairman of the Southeastern Conference Committee on Sports Medicine. Dr. Ray has been a member of the U.S. Triathlon Federation Sports Medicine Committee, Olympic Sports Medicine Society, and the American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine. In 2001, he opened the National Training Center Sports Medicine Institute and has worked diligently to provide the best possible Orthopedic and Sports Medicine services to athletes and non-athletes alike. His goal is to assist his patients in achieving the highest goals of health, wellness and improvement performance through state -of -the -art medical care, education and prevention. Dr. Ray has personally completed the Walt Disney Marathon and The Boston Marathon and plans on climbing to Machu Picchu in the summer of 2011. Brian L. Patterson, M.D., MSc. was born and raised in South Florida. As an undergraduate at The Citadel, Dr. Patterson was a three year letterman for their NCAA Division I Varsity Soccer program and was listed in Who’s Who in Athletics in American Colleges and Universities. After graduation, he attended the American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine, and then completed an Internship and Family Medicine residency at Providence Hospital and Medical Centers in Detroit, Michigan. After residency, he moved to Boston for a two year fellowship in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Harvard Medical School specializing in Spinal Cord Injury Medicine and then completed a two year Sports Medicine fellowship at The National Training Center Sports Medicine Institute. He has served on the editorial board for the peer reviewed journal Urgent Care and as editor of Radiology Quiz and Challenges in Sports Medicine and Orthopedics for Emergency Medicine. He has also been a contributor to The Journal of Musculoskeletal Medicine; Sports in Primary Care; M.U.S.C. Orthopedic Journal; and The Physician and Sportsmedicine. He has published over 40 peer reviewed manuscripts on sports medicine and other orthopedic conditions, and sees sports medicine and general orthopedic patients of all ages for all non-operative conditions and post-operative care. Dr. Patterson has personally completed three triathlons; The Dublin City Marathon in Dublin, Ireland; and plans on completing the Kilkenny, Ireland Olympic Triathlon in July 2011. He is A.B.M.S. board certified in Family Medicine, Spinal Cord Injury Medicine, and fellowship trained in Sports Medicine. |
